We made a highlighter stick. It is used to highlight the high points of your face (cheekbones, brow bones, etc.) If on the go and you need to touch up then this is a great product for you! You don't have to worry about carrying a makeup compact or brush. You just dab it on and rub it in or out, whichever you like. Also, it is super pigmented so you would never have to worry about color transfer. We feel like ours is the best because it is organic, travel sized and is an amazing highlight. It is also always good to know what goes into the makeup you put on your face! Yes, the products are not cheap but a small amount goes a long way and you don’t have to make a lot to fill a lot of containers. If you make this you would have plenty to use as gifts or to sell as you please but this recipe is also very customizable. You can feel free to use whatever chap-stick brand, mica powder color, and flavored essential oil that you please. We loved doing this DIY and this recipe was great because it was super successful.

3 most Important ingredients:

Coconut Oil = 0.77oz

We choose this ingredient because it smoothes and heals the skin. Many people use coconut oil on their hair, skin, nails, and scars. It kills harmful microorganisms, helps moisturize dry skin, and helps reduce and heal scars as well as stretch marks.

Chapstick = 0.74oz - The chapstick was the main base of the balm highlighter it is what gave the highlighter its consistency. It has not been proven to have any negative or bad effects on the human skin, lips, or face.

Mica Powder = 0.38oz - We chose this material because it is the key ingredient that makes it glow. Mica is used in many makeup products like eyeshadow, blush, and bronzer. Mica powder is not dangerous to the users it is a natural stone mineral made from ground down colored minerals.

Other Ingredients:

Orange Essential Oil = 0.10oz - This product is what gives the highlighter its scent it makes it enjoyable to use on your face and near your nose.

Cornstarch = 1.15oz - The cornstarch was used to thicken the highlighted mixture so that it would harden once it was in the containers which allow it to harden up so that it can be used in a chap-stick-like form on the face.

Procedure:

1. Wash your hands.

2. Collect and measure all supplies.

3. In a small bowl combine your coconut oil, chap-stick, and mica powder.

4. Now heat until the chap-stick is melted down.

5. Then add the cornstarch and orange essential oil to bowl and heat until liquidized, make sure everything in the bowl is mixed.

6. Now using a funnel or pipette, pour your highlighter mixture into your containers.

7. Refrigerate overnight to ensure hardening.

Overall, the product turned out AMAZING! Our favorite part about the product was making it and getting the final product to work! All the ingredients worked together in perfect harmony. Making our highlighter was a lot of fun and definitely could be an activity for a girls night. Feel free to make this sun-kissed, glowy, highlighter!
