Final Blog Post

My name is Conor Jones, and my chemist partner is Michael Pham and we are both going to make DIY cologne. We are making this product because it will give a nice scent which smells good. We are both researching about what our ingredients are and what they do. Once we have gathered all of materials and ingredients, we can make our cologne. I think think this project is going to be fun, since we get to make our own cologne.

Our first ingredient for our cologne is water. Water is needed because it is a carrier solvent in the distillation process for the cologne. The amount of water we need is a bottle of water. Water is safe because it doesn’t harm you, and it is consumable. Also, water is crucial for the cologne because it is needed to mix the alcohol and fragrance. The next ingredient for our cologne is alcohol. Alcohol is a chemical that is used for making substances, medical purposes, and it’s a solvent. Alcohol is a needed ingredient because it needs to be distilled in order to create the aroma. We only need one bottle of alcohol which can be bought from a Rite Aid. Alcohol is safe because it can heal your wounds, and it is used in a lot of medicine that helps us. Another ingredient for our cologne is cedar wood oil. Cedar wood oil is an oil that can be used in medicine, art, industry, and perfumery. Cedar wood oil is needed for the cologne because it is the fragrance of the cologne which creates a pleasant and sweet smell. We need only one bottle of cedar wood oil which can be purchased from Amazon.com. Cedar wood oil is safe because it is a substance that creates a beautiful scent.Our final ingredient is eucalyptus. Eucalyptus is an oil that can reduce coughs, sores, colds and congestion. Eucalyptus is needed for the cologne because it will make the scent of the cologne more alive and better. Once we have gathered all of our ingredients, we will start to make the cologne step by step. The first step is to acquire all the materials for the cologne and have it ready to mix. The second step is we have to know the ratios of how much we are going to put in the beaker. The third step is to mix the ingredients in the beaker. The Final step is to pour our mixed ingredients into the spray bottle.

In conclusion, the cologne has the ingredients of water, alcohol, and cedar wood oil to create a fine scent that smells wonderful.We take those ingredients and mix them, so that it can become a cologne. Well, if the product that we made doesn’t smell well, or didn’t turn out right, we will look closely to find the problem and solve it. If we can’t solve the problem then we will choose a different fragrance and restart the product. We think our product is important because smell is a crucial part of our senses and it is nice to smell something that is like a field full of flowers.
