Have you ever went to Target and looked for a body lotion that will leave your skin feeling nice and silky. when checking the ingredient list you find the ingredient that might sound foreign to you since its been years that you have taken chemistry class...but ever wonder how can I make a body lotion by only using a real organic ingredient by using materials that can find a home. Well, we have the perfect recipe just for. For the ingredient that the wellness Mama used are...
8 Tsp Jojoba Oil or Vanilla Oil
4 Tsp Coconut Oil
4 Tsp Beeswax Pastille
1 Tsp Vitamin Oil
2 Tsp Shea Butter or Cocoa butter
(Option) Essential Oil
Not gonna lie but this was our first time actually doing a DIY project. We usually watch videos of DIYers on Youtube when we're too lazy actually making the product, but anyway before we show the step by step for the project. We would like to explain more in-depth into these products to give you a better understatement what chemical properties are inside and how they benefit in our skin.
Jojoba Oil- Jojoba oil is really good for your skin. It is an emollient which means it really moisturizes our skin to be smoothing like a baby butt. Also, jojoba oil is full of vitamin E. vitamin E help reduce inflammation with our body and skin which can help you achieve that youthful face you always wanted. Jojoba oil is mostly made out 97% of mono-ester of long-chain fatty acids and a small amount of triglyceride ester.
Beeswax Pellets- Beeswax is great for many things like protecting the liver, clear acne, moisturize skin, etc. For these reasons are that beeswax has a long variety chain of alkanes, acids, ester, polyesters, and hydroxy ester. Beeswax is in a lot of product that you use regularly like lip balm, mascara, moisturize (lotion) and mostly in beauty care products.
Step Numero 1…
Before we get started with this project you'll also need to gather other items that would help make this lotion come together. You will need One small metal bowl, a pot, and 2 cups of Dihydrogen monoxide. If you don't have a small metal bowl laying around your house you can also use a small mason jar or any small glass cup. With these extra items, would help us melt the coconut oil and the beeswax faster by using the double boiler method. Now that we got everything ready let's start by combining the ingredients together in one small metal bowl. Add every in except the essential oil
Set Numero 2...
After your done settling all your ingredient in one small bowl start by adding 2 cups of dihydrogen monoxide in a medium size pot. Place the pot on the stove and set it to medium heat. When the chemical starts hitting the boiling point place the small bowl with the ingredients on top of the pot. Now the chemistry behind the double boiling method is that liquid chemical the molecules inside at first would be close to each other but not much since they would have enough room to move. When heat is being added those molecules would slowly separate themselves and turn into gas. As the gas rises up it would be able to heat up the bottom of the metal bowl which would allow the ingredient to melt.
Set Numero 3…
Now that enough chemistry for today. Now as the bowl is on top of the pot the ingredient would tale about 10-15 to melt the coconut oil and beeswax. The beeswax pastilles might take a while to melt so be patient with that. As everything in the bowl is melted add 2 tsp of your favorite essential oil we use orange in our lotion since we wanted a fruity smell. Now remove the bowl off of the pot and pour the lotion into 4 8 oz mason jar and let it solidify at least for 4 hours. There you go you have made all natural lotion that is suitable for your skin
Overall this lotion can last up for 6 months which can save you a lot of money and never have to spend a penny on another expensive lotion and a hair mask every again but as we said before you can change the recipe however you want on your liking. This project is also a great idea for holidays gift and birthday it's up to you.
