We made a healing lip balm that is also vegan because one of our group members mum who has very sensitive lips and is also allergic to beeswax. The goal was to cater to people who have a harder time finding lip products that they can use due to the ingredients they contain. We believe our product is the best possible version cause we altered it to be simple and easy for anyone to make as a D.I.Y.. We also put the best ingredients and flavors together to make it pleasant as well as effective. It is something worthwhile because it is good for many types of people and different problems such as cuts, sunburn, or chapped lips. Also its quite simple and quite cheap depending on how much you plan to make. Our experience with the recipe was that it was quick, simple, easy and we would make it again without any changes.

Lilian measuring out our Soy Wax Flakes on the scale!!

Ingredients

- Sweet Almond Oil ( 1.2oz )

- Jojoba Oil ( 0.80oz )

- Raw Mango Butter ( 0.90oz )

- Soy Wax Flakes ( 0.95oz )

- Vitamin E Oil ( 10 drops )

- Lemon Essential Oil ( 12 drops )

- Lavender Essential Oil ( 12 drops )

We were able to find all of our ingredients on Amazon, though i'm sure if you want higher grade stuff you could find it elsewhere. Our recipe made 22 chapsticks so you may have to scale the racipe up or down depending on how many you would like to make. And obviously if you aren't a fan of the flavors we used you can always switch the essential oils to what you prefer. We used these ingredients cause they are all vegan, have positive health benefits, and are fairly allergen free depending on the person.

Some of our ingredients melting down over our double boiler!!

Three Most Important Ingredients

Soy wax is vegan derived from vegetables, is a renewable source, has a lower melting point, and is biodegradable so it's environmentally safe. It was safe and effective because it is vegan, allergen free, and is a solidifying agent for the balm.

We chose this ingredient because it softens skin, heals wounds and prevents sunburn. It is also a effective speeding agent for healing. Mango Butter is completely plant-based and is made from pure mango. It is safe for the skin and is effective in healing the skin so it was overall a great product to use.

Jojoba oil is derived from a woody perennial bushes seeds that create a polyunsaturated wax which makes it great for protecting the sjin, providing moisture, and i soothing. It also has a very long lasting shelf life which makes it great for cosmetics products and because of its natural chemical structure it promotes skin health.

Procedure

1. Measure out your Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil, Raw Mango Butter, and Soy Wax Flakes then combine over a double boiler

2. Heat while stirring occasionally till it is all melted and mixed together

3. Remove from heat and add your Vitamin E Oil, Lemon Essential Oil, and Lavender Essential Oil to the mixture

4. Whisk together all you ingredients tell well combined

- You may need to leave it in the double boil or reheat it if it begins to solidify during this step of the process depending on the temperature of your work space

5. Take a pipette or syringe and put your mixture into your chapstick tubes

- You may need to heat again halfway through this process and may need a spatula to get it all out

6. Allow to cool and set for around 24 hours before using

- You can put them in the fridge or freezer to quicken the cooling process

All of our group members filling our chapstick tubes with our mixture!!

This product was important to our group because it was a product that would help someone close to use who needs a healing lip balm that is allergen free and vegan. Our ingredients all work so well for this product because they have healing and protecting properties that specifically work for our skin and lips. Our experience in making this project was very interesting cause it was fun but quite simple and easy. Anyone can follow this easy recipe with its simple ingredients and even change up the flavors if they would like so why don't you try it today.
